Ephesians 6:13
Isaiah 50:7

I have to give my husband David, some credit for this one!

A Methodist pastor for over 40 years, he had far more familiarity with scripture than I did. At some point he said to me, “What about the whole armor of God passage?”

I looked up Ephesians 6 and this sentence jumped out at me! “Therefore take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day.”

Wow! “that evil day!” Upon further reflection, the armor of God on 9/11 were the many uniforms of the Fire Department, the Police, the Red Cross, even the National Guard. Images of strength came to mind. This painting portrays as many uniformed Americans as I could come up with. I decided to create a visual wall composed of the commitment and resolve of those in uniform!

The image of the “Spirit figure”must have that same resolve.

Isaiah 50:7. came to mind. “For the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been confounded; therefore I have set my face like a flint.”

The full faced front view, sharp eyes, seemed to portray the strength and resolve of the Holy Spirit alive and well on September 11th 2001.
