John 15:12

With the pain of the attack on the twin towers and the Pentagon still fresh in my mind, I decided to do a series of 9/11 paintings based on scripture, focusing on the power of the Holy Spirit on that dreadful day.

I went to www.google.com and typed in: images of 9/11. The image of Father Michael Judge grabbed my attention. He was the Chaplain of the Fire Department, being carried out of the debris on a stretcher.

I read more about this incredible Roman Catholic man, he was a champion of Gay Rights, a recovering alcoholic himself! A man who truly loved God and gave his life attempting to save others!

The Scripture that jumped to mind: John 15:12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for a friend.”

Doves of peace had to surround this man! Doves with loving wings floating on the American flag in the background, lifting the dedicated firefighters who are carrying the body of Father Michael Judge.
